Welcome to Norfolk County!

Norfolk Pathways for People is a community coalition, supported by the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit, and made up of volunteers from community members, Public Health and Community Services Department. Pathways for People is a member of the Norfolk County Trails Advisory Committee.
Our Mission
Promoting pathways for walking and cycling in Norfolk County for health, recreation and active transportation.
Our Objectives
- Advocating for new and improved trails and pathways in Norfolk County.
- Building a healthier, accessible and connected community.
- Promoting the safe use of local trails and pathways.
- Providing input to the Norfolk County Trails Advisory Committee.
Norfolk Pathways for People grew from local interest in a public health initiative to work towards building walkable communities. Walkable communities are an important aspect of a healthy and vibrant community. To encourage citizens to rely on their cars less and choose walking more often, the environment in which they live, work, learn and play must support walking as a form of everyday transportation.
Since 2007, we have hosted a number of public events to encourage use of local trails; we’ve offered our support to county projects dealing with sidewalk repairs and installations; and we have a newsletter for sharing local trail and pathway information.
We will continue to be a voice advocating for public spaces that put people first. We hope to build more public support and demand for infrastructure changes [sidewalk improvements, installations and connections] that will make our communities more accessible and safer for users of all ages and abilities. Improvements to the built environment, that support walking and cycling, help to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Regular physical activity reduces risk for many chronic diseases, which are expensive to treat and rehabilitate. More people moving more often is good for everyone’s health and bottom line! See you on the trails!
We encourage members of the public to bring forward areas of concern. Contact us!
